Items Most Junk Companies Won’t Take

If you have rubbish that needs disposing, you leave it out for the local garbage collector. However, you may find that they won’t accept certain items. This is where a junk removal company comes in. These organizations promise to accept what state-run companies will not. Yet it may surprise you to learn that there are a host of items that even junk companies flat out refuse to accept. Yes, even rubbish is divided into categories so it’s important to know what you can and cannot remove via a junk collector. Below is a list of items that you can’t get rid of that easily with alternative solutions.

Tins Of Paint
Once you have finished painting the house, you want to remove the tins because they are often bulky and take up a lot of space. Don’t expect a junk company to alleviate your burden. Junk companies have to find places to dispose of the rubbish they collect from others. Paint tins are still flammable and also contain toxins which will damage any water it comes into contact with. You could fill the tins with sawdust as this may reduce the dangers. Alternatively, go to a hazardous waste station and get rid of the tins there. Although some junk removal companies have special centers to remove hazardous waste, these are few and far between.

Batteries And Auto Parts
Not all ‘broken’ car parts are beyond repair. Perhaps they can be salvaged by experts. This is why you should try a salvage yard. With regards to car batteries, these are harmful which is why you should immediately send them to a company who can recycle them. It should be noted that only rechargeable batteries can be removed in this way.

Furniture
This may surprise you but it’s important to remember that the junk company only has a certain amount of space to work with. Items such as beds and sofas will not be picked up unless they are broken into smaller pieces as some junk companies have rules relating to the size of materials they accept. Other options include donating the furniture to charity or asking for a special pick up service.

Deceased Animals
Not every pet owner is the sentimental type that buries their beloved cat or dog in the backyard! Some owners just want remove painful memories and will try to get their junk company to remove the unfortunate animal. Because of potential diseases, this won’t happen. The bodies of dead animals need to be incinerated so get in touch with the local pet shelter and they will help you.

Unbagged Rubbish
You can’t just throw loose rubbish into the bin, it needs to be bagged first. Indeed, most junk companies will refuse to collect garbage that is not in a bag. Some states are very strict when it comes to fining people for littering with fines of several thousands dollars routinely doled out to junk companies. This occurs when the loose rubbish flies out from the back of their trucks. Show some respect for the company and bag your rubbish.

Don’t automatically assume that every piece of junk you have will be taken by a junk removal company. They are bound by regulations and restrictions which means you have to abide by a certain set of rules. Comply, and make things easier for you and your junk company.

  1. Thanks for the tip. I definitely would like to have someone haul away a bunch of old paint cans I have lying around. Guess I’ll have to find another way.
